What is a conjunction? A conjunction is a handy part of speech that works as a connector. It joins words, phrases or clauses together in a sentence. Although a conjunction is similar to a preposition, it does a different kind of job. You can think of a conjunction as sentence glue. It holds parts together.
A conjunction can join individual words together in a sentence. For example:
