What is a sentence? A sentence is a group of words that makes complete sense.
Every sentence has a subject: a noun or pronoun that does the action in the sentence.
? Tommy walked the dog.
This is a complete thought. Tommy is the subject. The subject tells who did the action.
Every sentence also has a predicate: the action word of the sentence.
? Tommy walked the dog.
Walked is the predicate. The predicate tells what the subject did or does.
? Jennifer dreams about spring.
This is a complete thought. Who is the subject in this sentence? Who is dreaming? It is Jennifer. Jennifer is the subject.
