What is a sentence? A sentence is a group of words that makes compete sense.
A sentence must have two things:
1. A subject: someone or something to do the action. Subjects are nouns or pronouns that tell us who or what did the action.
2. A predicate: a verb, or action word that tells what the subject did, is or was.

Is this a complete thought? No. Cat could be the subject of a sentence, but what did the cat do? We need a predicate, or action, to make the thought complete.
