Solid Shapes ? Comparing 3-D Objects
About the Solid Shapes ? Comparing 3-D Objects Lesson
The lesson builds upon preceding lessons on 2-D shapes and introduces the different aspects of 3-D objects. Depending upon the children?s reading levels, the reading could be done individually or in pairs.
• The children will be able to identify, name and describe specific 3-D shapes.
• The children will be able to identify 3-D shapes in everyday objects.
We often talk about 3-D objects, but do you know what the ?D? stands for? D refers to the dimensions or measurements of the object. A 3-D object has three dimensions ? height, width and depth. Today, we are going to look at 5 different 3-D shapes: a sphere, a cone, a cube, a cuboid and a cylinder.
