What part of speech connects words, phrases or clauses? A conjunction of course.
Conjunctions are joining words. Although they may use some of the same words, different conjunctions are used in different ways. There are three main types:
1. Coordinating conjunctions. These conjunctions join equal parts together: words with words, phrases with phrases, and clauses with clauses. They can also join two independent clauses together to make a compound sentence, which is a sentence made from two independent thoughts. The most common coordinating conjunctions are:
and, but, for, nor, or, so, and yet.
