Daniel Webster was born January 18, 1782 in Salisbury, New Hampshire to Ebenezer and Abigail. Growing up, he lived on a small farm with his nine siblings. Daniel attended Phillips Exeter Academy. At age 15, Daniel taught in a one room school for a year.
After saving up his money, Daniel attended Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. During his junior year, he got a job for a small weekly paper, the Dartmouth Gazette. Throughout his years at Dartmouth, Daniel became a great orator.
