Excerpt
Deserts are located in areas that have little to no vegetation. Deserts account for roughly one-third of the land surface of the Earth. Deserts can be classified as hot deserts, moderate deserts, or cold deserts. Hot deserts usually have a large range of temperatures. In a hot desert, daytime temperatures are high, and the temperature at night is low. Daytime temperatures in hot deserts can reach 113 degrees Fahrenheit or higher. In winter, temperatures at night can go down to 32 degrees Fahrenheit (or even lower).
