Fill in the Nouns
About the Fill in the Nouns Lesson
This is a short lesson in understanding that the world is filled with common and proper nouns. It is also an indirect lesson on using creativity to form funny or serious sentences by changing the nouns.
• To have children fill in the blanks using common or proper nouns.
• To show how replacing a noun can change a sentence from serious to funny.
• To encourage children to be creative in finding interesting answers.
• To teach the difference between common and proper nouns.
A noun is a word that names a person, place, or thing.
? Common nouns name any person, place, or thing.
? Proper nouns name a particular person, place, or thing.
