Indiana is located in the Midwest, bordered to the east by Ohio and to the west by Illinois. The Ohio River separates Indiana from Kentucky to the south. Michigan is to the north and the southern tip of Lake Michigan, one of the five Great Lakes, is at the northwestern edge of Indiana.
Early History
Similar to other areas in North America, people lived in Indiana around 10,000 BCE. Historians call these people Paleo-Indians; they hunted the mammals of the time like mammoths and mastodons.
