State of being verbs express a condition or state of being. Be, feel, seem, or appear are all state of being verbs.
A transitive verb is an action verb that is followed by a direct or sometimes an indirect object. It is an action that is performed on something. Some sentences would not make sense unless the verb had a direct object to receive the action.
