Larry Bird was born on December 7, 1956 in West Baden, Indiana. His family didn?t have much money. His parents divorced and his father battled alcoholism. But Larry didn?t let any of this stop him. Instead, he used the struggles and turmoil at home to become one of the greatest basketball players to have ever played the game.

Basketball became Larry?s passion and he practiced it every day and every chance that he could. He practiced his shooting, dribbling and passing skills constantly. By the time he was a sophomore in high school, Larry was highly recognized as a talented basketball player.
