About the Learning About Adverbs Lesson
This lesson introduces the adverb as a part of speech. Activity A reinforces the concept of adverbs falling into the categories of manner, time and place. Activity B requires them to identify adverbs in a text.
• The children will be able to demonstrate the correct use of adverbs.
• The children will be able to recognize adverbs within a text.
Tom runs, Mary shouts, Peter plays. The underlined words are verbs. They tell us what Tom, Mary and Peter are doing, but they do not tell us much about the way they do it. That is why we need adverbs. For example, we can say: Tom runs quickly, Mary always shouts, Peter plays indoors.
