Seasons ? Measurements of Time
About the Seasons ? Measurements of Time Lesson
Most of the children will have some idea of the seasons. This lesson is designed to reinforce the concept that the seasons are cyclical and that the weather during the different seasons is fairly predictable.
• The children will understand that the seasons are cyclical.
• The children will be able to describe the weather and the appropriate clothing for each season.
There are four seasons in every year. Does anyone know what they are? Spring, Summer, Autumn, which we also call Fall, and Winter. What season is it now? The seasons always follow each other in the same order, like this:
Spring is often rainy; we need to wear galoshes to play out of doors. In summer we wear shorts and swimsuits and need to remember our hats and sunscreen. Autumn is windy; the farmers are harvesting their fruit and vegetables and we need to get out our jackets again. Winter is cold; we need jackets and toques, gloves and scarves. Sometimes we need snow-boots and snow-pants as well. Which is your favorite season?
