Excerpt
A novel is a piece of literature that is written in prose. This means that it is written in a style that is like everyday speech. Novels tell a story by using fictional characters, places, or events. In ancient times, stories were told in the form of songs or poetry. This helped many people to remember the story and also to make the story more exciting and interesting for listeners.
