Poland is a country located in central Europe. Poland is recognized as becoming an organized nation in the tenth century under the ruler Mieszko I. It has a population of more than 38 million people. Its size is approximately 313,000 square miles. (This is just slightly smaller than the State of New Mexico.) The official language of Poland is Polish. Polish is a highly inflected language. This means that to change the meaning of words, the form of the word varied. The capital of Poland is Warsaw. Warsaw is located on the Vistula River and was founded in 1300. It became the capital of Poland in 1596.
