The Grand Canyon is a steep-sided gorge that was carved by the Colorado River. It is located in the northern part of Arizona. Most of the Grand Canyon is located within the Grand Canyon National Park, which was one of the first national parks created in the United States. The Grand Canyon is roughly 227 miles long. The width of the canyon varies, and it can be between four and eighteen miles wide.
