Some sentences are called telling sentences. A telling sentence does just what the name says. It tells us something.
? Sammy did his homework.
? My cat, Mittens, loves catnip.
? The snow is deep.
Telling sentences are also called statements. That is because they state something. State is another word for say.
? Ohio is the seventeenth state.
? Columbus is the capital of Ohio.
? The Ohio River divides Ohio and Kentucky.
Just like other sentences, a telling sentence always begins with a capital letter.
