Tell Me More: Using Predicate Adjectives
About the Tell Me More: Using Predicate Adjectives Lesson
Introductory lesson in using predicate adjectives. Some review of linking verbs and adjectives.
• Short review of linking verbs and adjectives.
• Introduce predicate adjectives.
• Have students test their knowledge by underlining the predicate adjectives in a sentence.
Linking verbs are intransitive, state of being verbs that do not have a direct object. Instead, a linking verb links the subject of the sentence with more information about who are what the subject is. While action verbs show action, a linking verb doesn?t. Instead of telling what the subject does, a linking verb?s job is to join the subject with other words in the sentence that describe or explain more about the subject.
