Some sentences are telling sentences, or statements. They tell something or state a fact. For example:
? Abraham Lincoln was the sixteenth president.
? He was born in Kentucky.
Other sentences are asking sentences. They ask a question. Asking sentences usually begin with a word that asks a question. For example:
who, what, when, where, why, did, and does
? Did you know Teddy Roosevelt was president?
? Why is the teddy bear named after him?
